Karachi: Former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur has confirmed a heated moment between the then Pakistan’s batting coach Grant Flower and Ex-Test cricketer Younis Khan at Brisbane in 2016.
“It was a dining knife that Younis held on Flower’s throat. I calmed Younis down and just wanted him to get runs in the second innings which thankfully he did. His intention wasn’t to harm Flower,” Arthur was quoted speaking to PakPassion.net.
Remember, Flower disclosed that once Younis held a knife to his throat after disliking advice related to his batting.
“Younis Khan… quite tough to master. Obviously, a brilliant career. I remember one incident in Brisbane, during the Test, at breakfast I tried to give him a bit of batting advice, not that my career was anywhere near his regarding stats, as he is the highest scorer in Pakistan Test cricket,” he was quoted saying.
It must be noted here that former Zimbabwean cricketer served as batting coach of Pakistan men’s team from 2014-19. He is currently the batting coach of Sri Lanka men’s team.
