Canberra winger Nick Cotric has trampled Dragons star Matt Dufty, running “straight over” the fullback for the Raiders opener at GIO Stadium.
It’s been a perfect start for Ricky Stuart’s men on their first match back at home since the COVID-19 enforced break, with Green Machine in fine form early.
Cotric was the man to cross over the line first, and he did it in spectacular fashion.
Receiving the ball on the wing with limited space, Cotric braced himself and ran straight over Dufty in a try not too dissimilar to Parramatta’s Maika Sivo’s against the Roosters a fortnight ago.
“Cotric goes straight over the top of him,” remarked rugby league legend Steve Roach on Fox Sports. “His momentum takes him over.
“Cotric just too big and too strong, Dufty just not big enough.”
Minutes later Bailey Simonsson found himself across the line to round out an early wingers’ double, in an aerial high-flyer on the right flank.
