Cronulla Sharks great Paul Gallen has revealed he’s set to face off against UFC legend Mark Hunt in boxing mega-fight later this year.
Gallen and Hunt sent the Australian fight scene into meltdown earlier this year when rumours swirled of a potential bout between the two.
However, due to contract issues, Hunt was the only fighter to sign off on a deal leaving the match-up in serious doubt at the time.
But the bout now appears to be back on, with Gallen confirming he’s ready to go for an October 31st mega-fight after making progress on his part of the deal.
“It’s back on,” Gallen told Wide World of Sports’ 2GB radio.
“It was close to getting done three or four months ago.
“But today I saw the headlines come out as well and I rang the promotor and said, ‘we need to sort this out. Mark Hunt signed the contact, fair enough, but I haven’t signed a contract. I haven’t been offered a contract.’
“He said, ‘what do you want?’ So I told him what I wanted and he said, ‘okay we’ll work towards that.’
“So it’s looking promising, it’s looking like it’s going to happen.
“October 31st is the date that has been set. The venue I’m not sure of yet. It could be NSW somewhere, hopefully Queensland, possibly even New Zealand.
When asked if he was going to win, the rugby league legend had one simple message.
“I’m not going there to lose,” he said.
