Manly coach Des Hasler will no doubt be shaking his head after Jorge Taufua’s costly decision to give away a professional foul.
The Sea Eagles on Sunday afternoon suffered their third straight loss after the Dragons thumped them 34-4.
But with the game still in the balance midway through the second half with the Sea Eagles only trailing by one converted try, Taufua was sent to the sin bin when he took out Matt Dufty off the ball.
The Dragons fullback had attempted to chase down his grubber in attacking territory before Taufua made the decision to tackle him without the ball.
Replays showed it was clearly the wrong decision to make with fullback Brendan Elliot in the perfect position to clean up Dufty’s grubber.
The winger’s sin-binning left the Fox League commentary team baffled as Brenton Speed declared it was the “ill-disciplined” thing to do.
“Taufua didn’t need to do that, as the replay showed Elliott was going to get the ball,” Speed said.
“He’s done the ill-disciplined thing by wiping out Dufty and costing his team a man for ten minutes at a crucial stage.”
“Taufua only had one thought and he wiped out Dufty. He should’ve left it to Elliot.”

With Taufua off the field, the gate opened for the Dragons who then poured on four unanswered tries to run away with the match.
