‘I don’t know whether Fawad will play or not’ Waqar

Southampton: Pakistan’s bowling coach Waqar Younis wasn’t sure about Fawad Alam’s inclusion in playing XI against England in the second Test.

Speaking to reporters via video link on Wednesday, Younis was clueless regarding Fawad’s inclusion in the final XI. However, he wished the left-handed batsman ‘best of luck’ if he plays tomorrow.

“I don’t know whether Fawad will play or not. But, I hope he performs well if he gets a chance tomorrow as there are a lot of expectations from him and he is a very good player,” the bowling coach said.

Talking about preparations for the second Test, Younis said the boys have moved on and are thinking positively before going into the next match. “We made mistakes in the last match but what we do now is to make sure not to repeat those mistakes. One thing is clear, we need to play aggressively against the English side,” he said.

Younis said that the bowling line is inexperienced and learning from experiences. “Our bowlers are young and learning from experiences. We need to give them time and space to learn and implement. They have got big names in the team management whom they look up to gain expertise,” he said.

“However, with our bowlers, we hold the match till lunch on day 4. Unfortunately, we lost control in the last two sessions and England took the match away,” he maintained.
