Coach Abdul Maikaba, an apostle of tikki-takka brand of football had on several occasions complained that the pitch in Nnewi is not allowing his players freedom of expresion and thus, hampering their performance.

The same view was equally shared by his counterpart from Remo Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote.

Completesports.com checks would further reveal that the hierarchy of Rangers have already moved in to save the situation. We understand that they have already written to the Anambra State Sports Commission about their desire to shift their home league games to the new Awka Stadium which was commissioned on 28 December, 2021.

Similarly, officials of Rangers have equally written to the League Management Company, LMC, requesting for shift of their home games to Awka which has among other advantages, TV frendly pitch and nearness to their Enugu base.

LMC, it was further learnt, have taken a technical look at the edifice constructed by stadium construction giants, Monimichelle, and have given conditions for their request to be granted.

“What is still holding us is the inner perimeter fencing at the Awka Stadium which LMC demanded for,” a Rangers official told Completesports.com.

This was corroborated by the Anambra FA Secretary, Chijioke Onyedika.

“Yes, Rangers have made their intention known through a memo to the State Sports Commission. But I’ve not been to the stadium this week to know if work has started on the inner perimeter fence or not.

“But as at last week when I visited the stadium, work was yet to start,” Onyedika said.
